An LPGA sensation, Danielle Kang has always found great support from her friends and family during events. In the recently concluded Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown, cameras caught the 30-year-old’s mother dressed in head-to-toe USA garb as she cheered on Kang. Now, at her home course, Shadow Creek, Kang is once again surrounded by her friends and family.
The World No. 17 couldn’t feel any happier about playing with her loved ones by her side. However, there is one thing about the PGA Tour that makes her slightly envious. “Like, I like hearing claps. I like the crowd,” Kang shared in a press conference on Thursday. “I envy the PGA Tour sometimes on their crowds, you know. Even in their practice rounds.”
Just last week, fans turned up in hordes to watch their favorite PGA Tour golfers practice at Oak Hill. “[In] Rochester, we feel that this is our Super Bowl; in Rochester [it’s] golf,” Ron Pluta, the General Chairman of the PGA Championship, had said about the crowd at the major. And Kang undoubtedly wanted the same for the women’s Tour.
“I think hopefully one day we’ll get there,” Kang further hoped for the LPGA Tour events on Thursday. The golfer, meanwhile, is hoping to return to her winning ways at the ongoing LPGA competition, which boasts a prize purse of $1,500,000.

A win is rewarded with one point. Meanwhile, a tie gets half a point. The winner of each group then goes to the round of 16, which is followed by a round of 8. On Sunday morning, the semi-finals will see two players book their berths for the final round, slated to take place later that day.
Out of the $1,500,000 purse, the winner will eventually take home a whopping $225,000 in earnings.
