It all started when Brandel Chamblee spoke out against the inclusion of Brooks Koepka in the USA’s Ryder Cup team after the LIV pro’s win at Oak Hill last month. As Koepka’s swing coach, Claude Harmon III, criticized the 60-year-old, Phil Mickelson couldn’t help but chime in as well!
Since then, both parties have continued to exchange harsh insults. Even after Chamblee allegedly blocked the golfer on Twitter, the feud has only picked up further steam. This time around, it was about a debate that was slated to happen between the two. Most recently, the Golf Channel analyst shared that he had proposed two dates for a debate. However, Mickelson allegedly turned them both down.
After the LIV pro got wind of Chamblee’s claims, he shot them down as fake. “We have not communicated AT ALL,” he wrote in a tweet on Saturday. “Either he is making this up (most likely scenario knowing him) OR he’s talking with someone impersonating me.”
What is this blasphemy? We have not communicated AT ALL. Either he is making this up (most likely scenario knowing him) OR he’s talking with someone impersonating me. 🤷♂️

Outright denying the false claim, Lefty suggested that Chamblee was mistaken as to who he was dealing with. And fortunately for the fans, this could mean that a spirited live debate between the two is more than possible. After all, these twists and turns have gone on for quite a while now and have dragged down other golfers as well. Its most recent victim is LPGA sensation Nelly Korda.

On Saturday, the Mickelson-Chamblee spat took another turn, with the LIV pro pointing fingers at a popular event on the Ladies European Tour (LET). LIV Golf is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which has drawn significant flak from the likes of Brandel Chamblee and Eamon Lynch. In his tweet, however, Lefty pointed out that the PIF also sponsors the LET’s Aramco Team Series.
Posting photos from the tournament, Mickelson wrote, “Isn’t selective moral outrage the best?” One of the photos also featured former World No. 1 Korda teeing it up at the event. While the Aramco Team Series is not an official LPGA Tour, the latter did enter into a joint venture with the LET in 2019. Moreover, besides Korda, many other LPGA stars have also made an appearance at the event.
