The 2023 Evian Championship is headed into the weekend, with Celine Boutier leading on home soil after 36 holes. LPGA heavyweights like Jin Young Ko, Rose Zhang, and Brooke Henderson are among the others who will be appearing in the final two rounds of the major.

But a slew of big-name players failed to impress at the Evian Resort Golf Club, and US Women’s runner-up Charley Hull was among them. On Friday, the 27-year-old took to social media to shed light on the reason behind her forgettable outing, drawing empathetic reactions from the golf world.

At the recently concluded US Women’s Open, Charley Hull fired an incredible 6-under 66 in the final round that saw her ultimately tie for the 2nd position on the leaderboard. But fans of the Englishwoman will, unfortunately, not get to witness a repeat of her Pebble Beach heroics this week.

After shooting a 77 at the Evian Championship on Thursday, Hull carded a 70 in the second round to miss the cut by one shot. This is Hull’s third missed cut at four LPGA majors so far in 2023.

But the world No. 14’s not-so-memorable turn at the tournament had a lot to do with her ailing health conditions. “Had a weird virus the last few days, I didn’t feel myself had vertigo, a high temperature and swollen hands and feet,” wrote Hull in a caption accompanying her recent Instagram post. “But I battled back hard today gutted to 3 put the last hole to missed the cut by one.

After the post surfaced, fans were quick to hail the golfer for playing through her sickness. Some even wished her well for the fifth and final major of the year, which will commence in a couple of weeks!

Two-time LPGA Tour winner Charley Hull fell short of a major win yet again as she exited the ongoing Evian Championship after playing 36 holes. But the amazing strength shown by Hull despite feeling under the weather at the major has won the hearts of her fans.

Great effort. Many would not even have got out of bed Charlie , speedy recovery,” wrote one fan. One individual commended her second-round performance, saying, “under par this afternoon was seriously good golfing.” Meanwhile, another golf enthusiast said, “missing the putt was probably meant to be so you can go and rest up.”

One fan hoped that the golfer would turn things around at the impending AIG Women’s Open. “Happens. Get well and win at Walton Heath!” “Vertigo is horrendous not surprised you missed the cut. Get yourself well for The open as its your time,” read another comment. A fan of the LPGA sensation said, “You’ll be back with a vengeance…” This year, the Women’s Open will take place at the Walton Heath Golf Club near Surrey in England from August 10th to 13th.
