“Obviously just hasn’t been the course for me the last few years,” said a frustrated Lexi Thompson back in 2019 after missing the cut at the Amundi Evian Championship. Since then she hasn’t teed off at the major. This year wasn’t too different either, as the American pro withdrew from the event ahead of the same. But then what would she be doing during this time? Well, look no further as the golfer was spotted exercising her heart out.
A post was shared on Instagram by the 29-year-old golfer, which included a picture of the golfer working out using the Peloton machine while sporting the Puma running shoes. The fans, meanwhile, couldn’t help but express their affection for Thompson, all the while not giving attention to her recent withdrawal decision.

The soon-to-be-retiring athlete had once reportedly vented her frustration about the course where the major takes place. “I’m actually very thankful that I don’t have to put myself thru that for another two days,” admitted Thompson in a now-deleted post, “You’re a beautiful place Evian but that’s just too many bad breaks with good shots for me, so bye @evianchamp! #justnotforme #allgood #onward.”
The golfer had finished T48 at the 2017 edition of the event. Moreover, she even missed the cut the following year after a 4-over-par score. It might have been her fateful interactions with the Evian Resort Golf Club that forced her to stay away from the event. But even so, none in the community alluded to the same while commenting on the post!

Fans dub Lexi Thompson as their ‘favorite’
The golfer had announced her retirement from the game recently. This, in turn, makes the upcoming event at the Evian Resort Club in France her last chance to clinch the title of victor at the same. Although the athlete was inside the top 50 of the Rolex Rankings and an LPGA Tour winner, allowing her to be a part of the event, the absence of her name in the field did turn some heads. Nevertheless, her fans just wished her a wonderful weekend ahead as they commented, “Looking great. I hope you had a fabulous holiday weekend,” and “I see you’re back home! Spin away Lexi!”
The 29-year-old has represented her country a total of six times at the Solheim Cup, the last of which came in 2023. Out of the same, she has helped her team win the event two times, in 2015 and 2017. A follower couldn’t help but reminisce about the same as they responded, “Hope you make the Solheim Cup. Bucket list item for me I’ll be there.”

“I’m just taking it one day at a time. I made my announcement. I’m very content with it,” divulged Lexi Thompson after being inquired about a change in her retirement plans after a possible win at the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Although she didn’t end up victorious, her response did spark doubt in her fans’ minds about the same. One of them consequently asked, “Lexi, Will you have a change of mind leaving the LPGA Golf Tour?”
“My fav to watch on the LPGA, playing great golf lately,” commented a user on Instagram after spotting the golfer exercising on her post. One can’t help but agree as she recently dished out a T9 and a T2 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, respectively. Her ardent admirers would hope she continues this momentum in her next event as well. But they can only wait and watch!
