The most eye-catching thing about the Grant Thornton Invitational is undoubtedly the co-ed format of the team. The event will consist of 32 players who will be playing in teams of two. The teams, which consist of many fan favorites like Nelly Korda & Tony Finau and Lexi Thompson & Rickie Fowler, will be competing for a total purse worth a whopping $4 million.

The recent announcement of the lineup pairs has many excited, but arguably none more than Joel Dahmen. The PGA Tour star was quite pumped up for his pairing with LPGA phenom Lilia Vu. So much so that he expressed his elation through a tweet.

In the post, the golf pro praised Vu and wrote, My partner is currently the best player in the world! @TheLiliaVu should we start coordinating outfits for the week?”

Lilia Vu has taken over the 2022–23 season by storm. The 26-year-old has not shied away from showing her immense capabilities as a golfer. She bagged quite a few wins this year, including two majors. Hence, unsurprisingly, she currently sits in the top position in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

Coincidentally, Dahmen isn’t the only one excited for their pair-up; Vu herself is more than thrilled and hours ago proclaimed her eagerness for playing alongside the one-time PGA Tour winner.

The collaboration between the LPGA and PGA Tour brews excitement

The happiness of the team-up is certainly not one-sided. When asked about her thoughts on the upcoming event, Vu expressed her feelings and stated, “I think I’m too excited.” She even admitted to being a fan of the 35-year-old golfer and added, “After watching ‘Full Swing’, I became a huge fan.”

The powerhouse golfer went on to fondly speak about the PGA tour golfer and also drew similarities between her and Dahmen’s relationship with their respective caddies and said, “I find (Joel) very relatable and funny, and I think Cole (Pesanti, her caddie) and I kind of have the same relationship that him and Geno (Bonnalie, Dahmen’s caddie) have. I think we’re gonna have a lot of fun.”
