The Tour decided to postpone the Q-Series qualifying stage, originally set for October 13-18, 2024, at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Fans did understand that this decision was made to prioritize everyone’s safety, and waited for further updates.
Florida’s Gulf Coast was already coming over from Helene’s aftermath when Hurricane Milton forecasted landfall in the Tampa Bay region. In the latest post by LPGA Tour, fans got to know that the officials have decided to reschedule the Q-series to the end of the month. “Following an assessment of the course and in close coordination with Plantation Golf and Country Club, the qualifying stage of the LPGA Q-Series has been rescheduled for October 20–25, 2024,” read the post on X.
This decision proves that the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the series remain the LPGA’s top priority. “The safety of athletes, caddies, staff, volunteers, and the local community continues to be our top priority. Our thoughts remain with the entire Florida community as we further assess the impacts of Hurricane Milton,” continued the post. Hurricane Milton has already claimed at least 10 lives and left countless others trapped by floodwaters across Florida, according to AP. Hence, the LPGA Tour’s decision is truly an important one.

Daly’s fears turned to reality when Hurricane Helene tore through his Florida neighborhood and left a trail of destruction in its wake. Two of his close friends also lost their homes. Daly shared a heart-wrenching update on Facebook which revealed the catastrophic damage to his home. “For everyone that has reached out, my family is all safe, but all our homes are not!” he exclaimed. The golf legend was visibly shaken but was thankful he and his family were safe. “As water is pouring out of every crevice! I still cannot imagine ALL we have lost, but we are safe and all can be replaced! Praise God!”

The two-time major winner who calls the Big Bend region of Florida’s Gulf Coast home had been anxiously tracking the storm’s progress on social media but nothing could have prepared him for the devastation that awaited. Before Milton was officially a hurricane, Daly shared his concerns with his followers by posting a haunting radar image of the storm’s proximity to his home.“God bless and everyone, please be safe during Hurricane Helene! #thisismyhome,” he wrote.
