When one door closes, another opens. For all the LPGA players who missed making their mark this season, yet another much-awaited tournament is on the horizon. The CPKC Women’s Open is already upon us and it is time to take a closer look at the national golf event in Canada.

The CPKC Women’s Open was scheduled to be hosted at Vancouver’s Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in 2020. Sadly, due to the pandemic, it was canceled for two years. In 2022, golf fans were eager to see the stars play a spectacular round, or four. However, it was moved to the capital city to be hosted at the Ottawa Hint and Golf Club. Now, it is back at its original venue. Let’s dive into the story.

Who is playing and what is the arrangement for the CPKC Women’s Open?

The field, according to the LPGA Tour, consists of 152 golfers in the first and second rounds. The par 72 golf course will witness the top performers (top 66 and ties) making the cut on the moving day and the final round on Sunday the 27th. With an increased total purse of $2.5 Million, as opposed to 2022 in Ottawa, the winner’s payout is $375,000 along with 500 points for the Race to the CME Globe at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club.

Defending champion Paula Reto is scheduled to play at the event as last year’s winner even though she did not make it into the top 50 Rolex rankings. Current World No. 1 Lilia Vu, who clinched two major titles this season, will play alongside former winner Jin Young Ko, and another 7 of the 8 remaining players on the top 10 rankers.

Nelly Korda, Celine Boutier and Ruoning Yin will also be the center of attention in terms of support from fans. However, Brooke Henderson who is not only in the top 10 Rolex Rankings but also playing in her homeland can expect even more special treatment from fans.
