The 132-player field consists of a whopping 11 past champions as well as all the top-10 highly ranked players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings present in the Woodlands. Alongside an exponentially increased purse (from last year’s $5.2 million), of which the winner will take home $1,185,000, 650 points for the Race to the CME Globe are also being given out to further incentivize highly talented players.
Lizette Salas and Angela Stanford are two players participating on sponsor’s exemption this week. Only time will tell if these 11 past champions will win glory this year, or if, following last year’s pattern, a new player will emerge victorious and gain their maiden major win at the Chevron Championship.
