When it comes to the pace of a game, there are two types of fans in golf. While some prefer to watch fast-paced play, some believe that golfers can take as much time as they want, as long as the shot is accurate. Nonetheless, the current world no. 1 golfer, Atthaya Thitikul, gave her verdict on which type suited her best.

Notably, the pace of women golfers while playing an official event has been a topic of discussion many times. In fact, a netizen had once trolled the American golfer, Danielle Kang, by comparing her pace to putt to a runner

On the contrary, Justin Thomas had criticized the officials for putting a clock on the final group in a women’s major event and defended Lexi Thompson

Therefore, there is no right way to decide which is the correct method. However, the 19-year-old top player in women’s golf is a fan of fast play. She said, “my caddie always says, ‘I can’t get yardage before you’re ready to play!'” 

Fans reaction to the young golfer’s recent statement regarding the pace of play

Soon after the LPGA Tour posted the quotes of the teenage golfer on Twitter, many went to the comment section to express their opinion on the matter. Notably, it was hard to get a clear answer from their responses as there were supporters of both slow and fast pace there.

While half of them supported Thitikul and her fast play, some were against it. Interestingly, one of them even used this opportunity to criticize the Tour’s decision to let players use distance-measuring devices during the tournament. 

Some also used the time to congratulate the Thai professional golfer for creating several records and becoming the world’s no. 1 golfer.

Atthaya Thitikul achieved the world’s no. 1 spot by being part of several records in women’s golf history

It has been only days since Thitikul became the world no. 1 golfer. “It is such an honor to have my name at the top amongst the biggest names of the game,” she said. Notably, She replaced the South Korean golfer, Jin Young Ko, who has been decorating the position since the last week of January. 

With the title, she became the second Thai player to achieve this feat after Ariya Jutanugarn, who stayed in the position for 23 total weeks. Moreover, Thitikul is the second player to become world no. 1 and second after Lydia Ko to receive this honor under the age of 20.
