The 2023 edition of the Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major tournaments in Women’s golf is just a few days away. The said competition will witness 132 golfers tee off at the Evian Resort Golf Club. The fourth major of the season is going to be exciting to watch as various top golfers’ names are already on the list.

But here comes a question: Is Lexi Thompson going to participate in the Evian Tournament, especially after not being able to make the cut in the U.S. Open? Also, will she be able to grab her second major this time? Well, let’s find it out here.

Lexi Thompson likely to miss the Amundi Evian Championship?

Despite not making a cut at the U.S. Women’s Open, Thompson’s fans are eager to know whether she will be competing in the upcoming tournament. Well, Thompson has always been an excellent golfer and has even won eleven times on the LPGA Tour.

As far as the Evian Championship is concerned, there are certain criteria to qualify for the event. Some of them include being in the top 50 Rolex rankings, winning in the past Evian champions, or being LPGA tournament winners, among others. As Thompson is currently sitting in the 16th position in the Rolex rankings, she does qualify for the event.

However, according to Evian’s official site, her name is not mentioned on the list. So there could be a possibility that fans may not be able to witness her performing at the event that’s going to take place on the 27th of July. Nevertheless, one should also be aware that she played a short season this year due to her arm injury.

How many tournaments did Lexi Thompson play in 2023?

Thompson had competed in a few events this season. She began with the LPGA Drive On Championship, where she did not make the cut. All in all, Thompson was only able to play six events in 2023.

Among these events, she missed the cut in four of them. Sadly, her other two tournaments were also not up to par. She was last seen competing in the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational Event alongside Brooke Henderson.
