Rose Zhang displayed a brilliant performance in the Maybank Championship that ended recently. She fought hard for the trophy but ended up sharing the third position with Thidapa Suwannapura. Scoring an impressive 19-under, she put on a great show at the Malaysian event.
She is currently playing the Toto Japan Classic, in Omitama, Japan. The fourth round of the tournament has begun as of now, and Hinako Shibuno is leading the board, sharing the first position with Shiho Kuwaki. Speaking ahead of her final round, Rose Zhang opened up about her experience playing in Japan.

Rose Zhang discusses player interactions in Japan
When Zhang faced a question about her interactions with the Japanese players in the tournament. She spoke about her connection with Hinako Shibuno and mentioned how they ate Yakiniku (grilled meat) together. She said, “it was fun to have a little meal with her.”
Zhang also mentioned that talks to Nasa Hataoka, a good amount. She said that she admired the two players and that she mostly interacted with them. Both these players play for the LPGA in addition to the LPGA of Japan.
A follow-up question focused on whether Zhang connected with anyone who was playing with JLPGA alone. She spoke about how she had a good time playing with Shoko Sasaki, and other Japanese players. She explained how they couldn’t talk much because of the language barrier.

However, she seemed to have had a good time playing with them. “It’s really fun.” assured Rose Zhang. The 20-year-old thanked Japanese golf fans who came to watch the game. She closed the discussion by appreciating the beautiful weather there.
Rose Zhang came really close to winning the Maybank Championship last week. After experiencing her first LPGA win this year, in June, will she bag a second win before the year ends? Let’s find out how Rose Zhang has performed in the tournament so far.

Rose Zhang in Toto Japan Classic
Zhang scored five birdies and a bogey in the first round, making a decent 4-under out of it. She went on to repeat that score in the second round as well. In round 2, however, the score came up in the form of two birdies and an eagle.
Sustaining the improvement in her game, Zhang upped it even further in the third round. She scored a 7-under from round three alone, pushing the score to a 15-under at the end of three rounds. She generously bagged eight birdies in the round, and a bogey.

Round four has begun now, and Zhang is moving up and down in the T11 to T15 range of the leaderboard currently. With a superior round like the third, she stands a pretty good chance at topping the leaderboard at the end of this round. We will have to wait to find out if she pulls it off this time!
