The 2023 Cognizant Founders Cup drew to an end on Sunday, with South Korea’s Jin Young Ko emerging as the winner. Meanwhile, World No. 7 Lexi Thompson had a lackluster outing at the event, dampening the high hopes of her fans.

Now, it appears that the American golf pro is opting to look at the bright side of things despite her forgettable outing at the Upper Montclair Country Club. Taking to social media after the tournament, the LPGA star got candid about what lies ahead for her, focusing on the silver lining!

2023 has been hard on Lexi Thompson’s fans. The recently concluded Founders Cup marked only her fourth appearance this year, and golf enthusiasts were rightfully excited. But Thompson, who finished runner-up in last year’s edition, did not quite live up to their expectations.

She ended up tied for 31st on the leaderboard, taking home $20,276 in earnings. So, how is Thompson feeling after her not-so-memorable outing? Sharing a picture on Instagram, the LPGA star resolutely expressed that she plans to “figure it out” after a “tough week” on the course.

The wholesome picture showed the golfer interacting with a young fan. Thanking the event sponsor in her caption, the major winner shared her love for the “little ones” that are always supporting the golfers from the sidelines. The 28-year-old’s Founders Cup appearance came after she missed last month’s Chevron Championship cut. As the ongoing season picks up steam, Thompson will definitely be looking to return to smashing form as soon as possible.

On the other hand, Minjee Lee, who won the event last year, missed her chance at repeat glory after losing to Jin Young Ko in a playoff. This is the South Korean golfer’s third Founders Cup title, as she ended up taking home the biggest share of the $3,000,000 prize purse.

How much did Jin Young Ko win at the Founders Cup?

27-year-old Jin Young Ko exhibited her sheer dominance at the Cognizant Founders Cup yet again on Sunday as she beat Australia’s Minjee Lee to claim the title. This is Ko’s third Founders Cup win in five years and her second LPGA Tour win this season.

After a thrilling final round, the golfers went head-to-head on the par-4 18th hole for the playoff. Lee appeared to have the upper hand until she botched it up with a shocking three-putt, leading to Ko pocketing the $450,000 winner’s paycheck with her 15th win on the LPGA Tour.

Out of the jaw-dropping prize purse, runner-up Lee walked away with $282,165. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai, who came in third, took home $204,690 for her performance.
