The LPGA golfer Hannah Green made history as she became the first women golfer to win a 72-hole mixed-gender, professional event. She won the TPS Murray River a pro event on the PGA Australia. Hannah carded 66 for the final round at Cobram Barooga Golf Club and won AUD$36,000 as prize money. 

TPS Murray River is a mixed-gender event with adjusted tee markers to make it fair. The field had some of the best Australian golfers on the field, which made this victory sweeter for Hannah. Notably, this is the first time in the history of golf that a female golfer has won a mixed-gender event.

How did LPGA golfer Hannah Green win the TPS Murray River?

Hannah Green is one of the most prominent female golfers in the world. She is ranked 30th in the world and is also the 2019 Women’s PGA Champion. But when it comes to competing against Australia’s best male and female golfers, it was always going to be tough. She went into the final day with a four-way tie.

Achip-in eagle on the par-5 10th hole gave her a solo lead that she never left until the end. Hannah eventually won the event with a score of -20, while Hayden Hopewell and Andrew Evans finished second. Previously, Su Oh’s T-3 finish was the best at TPS Murray River for a female golfer.

Green revealed that competing in this event wasn’t in her plans. “I feel amazing. I just feel so grateful that I came. It wasn’t in my plans to play here. I was going to go back to Perth – but things happen for a reason, and I am really glad I made it,” Green said“It was really nice to have a buffer coming down the last because I was really nervous.”

Notably, this was her 8th professional win and has already registered two LPGA Tour victories in her career so far. Meanwhile, the 25-year-olds next goal is to break into the top 10 by the season’s end.
