Teach them young. Michelle is truly providing the meaning to this proverb as she is training her daughter for a golfing career. Besides being a doting mother, Wie West is also an active athlete who understands the importance of prepping her child from an early age to forge the path to a successful career.
In the latest Instagram story that West posted while she is prepping for the US Women’s Open, she is joined on the Pebble Beach Golf Links by her three-year daughter Makenna who is seen making a shot and then running away after the ball. Wie West also wrote a cute note: “Someone wanted to join our round today.”
In another story, Makenna is also participating in the range session as Wie West cheers her on and says ‘Good job’. Wie West welcomed her daughter, Makenna with her husband Jonnie West, in June 2020. Although Wie West may say goodbye to her competitive career after the US Women’s Open, but by helping Makenna get a taste of the Pebble Beach course, West is only prepping her daughter for a career in golf which will further strengthen West’s ties with the sport.

Michelle made some huge accomplishments during her own childhood. She was the youngest player to qualify for a USGA amateur championship and the youngest female golfer to qualify for an LPGA Tour event. After her entry into golf, she was an unstoppable force of nature. West previously won the event back in 2014 and the exemption from that win has allowed her to participate in this year’s US Women’s Open.
Golf has been an intricate part of her life from the very beginning and she is ready to pass on the legacy to her daughter. This week Wie West is returning first time to the course after announcing retirement, so it is certain that all eyes will be on her. The tournament is from July 6–9, and the prize purse is $10 million.
