Ever since Sörenstam has not only added stars to her country but also to Europe at large. She stepped back from competitive golf back in 2008.

Annika hasn’t had the most uncomplicated journey when it comes to the Solheim Cup. Her path has had a fair share of roadblocks in the form of controversies. However, being the considerate person she is, she chose to put all of it behind her and show up for her fellow golfers.

The ghost of Annika’s Solheim Cup past

The Solheim Cup is one of the most important tournaments in women’s golf. However, the major event has not always been complication-free, especially for Annika Sörenstam. She is part of some of the famous controversies that have happened at the Solheim Cup.

One of these instances occurred back in the 2000 Solheim Cup where the Swedish professional golfer was required to replay a chip shot. However, luck was not on her side the second time and she couldn’t hole it. Another such controversy took place in 2013 when Annika was convicted of providing counsel, a privilege only given to the captains of the team. However, Sörenstam was released eventually. All in all, these circumstances add up to making the Solheim Cup somewhat of a harsh memory for the famous player.
