With the Summer Olympics scheduled from July 26 to August 11, only a month and a half away, the #1 golfer, Nelly Korda is actively preparing to represent Team USA. However, Lilia Vu, the #2 golfer, might not be able to participate, given her current situation and the way things are looking for her.
Injuries have defined the 2024 season for the former #1 golfer. She missed both majors, along with the HSBC Women’s World Championship and the Blue Bay tournament. Given this, the question of her participation in the Olympics also arises.

Even after returning to the field of the Meijer LPGA Classic, a tournament with a purse of $3 million, Lilia Vu remains uncertain about the future, especially the Paris Olympics. Ahead of the first round at Blythefield Country Club, Vu joined the press conference and came across the question: “Are you still on your Olympic journey, or still trying to make it to Paris, or have you qualified for Paris yet?” In response, the four-time LPGA winner said, “I’m not sure. I’m just kind of doing what I can right now. Would love the opportunity to represent Team USA, but, yeah, just going to do what I can right now.”

The golfer’s uncertainty stems from the setbacks she has faced due to her injuries. Withdrawals due to injuries began at the HSBC Women’s World Championship due to her declining overall health. Later, at the Blue Bay LPGA, Lilia Vu faced a similar unfortunate incident and had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.

Subsequently, at this year’s Chevron Championship, the 26-year-old opted out of defending her title in April due to a back injury. In May, before the US Women’s Open, a similar incident occurred where Vu’s name was removed from the field list. Despite the golfer’s uncertainty, is she taking any steps to improve her situation? Indeed, she is!
What are the steps Lilia Vu is taking?
Upon returning to the professional greens, the golfer expressed what she needed to do to overcome the setbacks of injury. When asked, “How have the last few months gone for you?” Vu replied, “Yeah, definitely been a process. I kind of had to reevaluate my game and how my body moves. I think that was the most important thing, and it was kind of the best time to kind of work on my stability and compensation. Worked really hard over the past couple weeks getting that ready.”
