Why was it named the LPGA tournament of the year?
The CP Women’s Open was the most successful event in the history of the LPGA tour. They held it in August 2022 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club with a vast crowd. The event recorded the attendance of more than 75,000 golf fans. It was overwhelming because women’s golf does not generally get such a response. However, the last significant mark was in 2017, when they recorded an attendance of 55,000. Above all, they collected a massive amount of over $3 million for a good cause.

August 22 to 28 was a massive week for all the LPGA players. They did not expect such a response from the fans. It was a great feeling for all Canadian golfers to return to their homeland and let people witness the people living North of the border love golf.
Alena Sharp, the pro-Canadian golfer, could not believe her eyes after looking at the crowd. She was entirely overwhelmed, as she did not go anywhere much this year. Therefore, looking at such growth in women’s golf was beyond happiness. She said, “I haven’t been out on tour much this year, but this is the biggest crowd I’ve seen in a long time.”
