The relationship between a professional golfer and their caddie is special. Matilda Castren, a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) champion, put out a message to show support for her ailing caddie.

The golfer considers her caddie Jonny Scott as a dear friend. In her Instagram post, she informed golf enthusiasts that Scott was in a hospital in China. She urged readers to go through his story on GoFundMe and donate towards his treatment.

LPGA star comes to caddie’s rescue

Matilda Castren posted a picture of Jonny Scott from his GoFundMe page on her Instagram. She wrote a caption alongside the picture and has received some comments with prayers for Scott. 

The professional golfer from Finland wrote, “Hi my friends. Unfortunately we have been dealing with some extra stress this last week with my caddie and dear friend Jonny in the hospital in China. I hope you can read his story and consider donating to help with his medical costs while he is overseas. Any bit helps and dont forget to share!! The link is in my bio. Thank you.”

Johnny Scott’s GoFundMe page has a message informing fans that the caddie suffered a stroke at the LPGA event in Shanghai in October 2023. It also says that the attack was “fairly mild” and that Jonny is out of hospital. He is “currently in a hotel in Shanghai resting up having been released from hospital on Monday evening,” the write-up said.

Castren’s post received a repost from a fellow pro golfer from the UK, who also put in her contribution to the cause.

Charley Hull shows support

Star golfer Charley Hull shared the Castren’s post on her Instagram story. With this, Hull urged her fans to contribute to the cause. Moreover, she herself donated towards Scott’s treatment.

“Prayers up for Jonny!!!” remarked a fan on Matilda’s post about Jonny Scott. While another said, “Best wishes to Jonny that he gets back to his full, wonderful 100% self soon!”.

LPGA golfer and commentator Morgan Pressel also responded to the post with support, with a simple 🙏🏻🙏🏻”
