The First Tee: Journey to Dromoland is a six-part documentary series following three Irish media personalities on their journey from relative beginners to amateur golfers. The series is produced by Golf Ireland, and the three participants are Lorraine Keane, a well-known TV presenter; radio broadcaster Pamela Joyce; and Valerie Wheeler, a sports presenter.

The trio is underway on their journey to learn the game and play at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open Pro-Am at Dromoland Castle. And along the way, they’ve now found backing through former One Direction star Niall Horan, as his company Modest Golf becomes an official sponsor for the docuseries.

The Irish Golfer posted about this on Twitter, and as per their article, Horan was extremely grateful to the trio for what they were doing. “Thank you so much for getting into the game of golf and encouraging other women to get into the game also,” he said in a video to them!

The First Tee intends to make women overcome their fears and engage them in an otherwise male-dominated sports industry. Throughout the series, the women receive coaching from PGA professionals Mary Doyle and Gavin Young. And learn the basics of golf.

The LPGA gathered close to 600,000 viewers in different formats of women’s golf. And July was the most-watched month.
