Does Tony Finau's dedication to family make him the most relatable golfer on the PGA Tour?

Being a full-time athlete and a father doesn’t come easy, but that is not the case with the loving family man Tony Finau. From winning the fans’ hearts on the greens to being a great dad to five kids, the golfer is acing both jobs. And his family is his ultimate support system, as they’ve been with the golfer through thick and thin. Take his $100 million loss at the Tour Championship, for example. The golfer finished at T29, but he knew his family would be there to support him. And what else does a man need, right?

Tony Finau’s wife, Alayna Finau, comes first on the list of his supporters, as she is often seen on the greens with him, cheering him on. Alayna recently took to her TikTok account to show the golfer her support and express her love for how much their family has grown since the golfer joined the PGA Tour. Alayna posted two pictures of the golfer with their kids; they only had two kids in the golfer’s rookie season in 2014-15 on the PGA Tour. And now that it is his 10th year, the couple has welcomed three more since then.

“So emo! so PROUD😭! 10th season in the books 📚🏌⛳ NOTHING like seeing your person live out their dreams through the rollercoasters of life & never giving up✨🥺🫶🏻”, read the caption Alayna wrote lovingly. Finau and Alayna tied the knot on May 12, 2012, and have grown into a beautiful family of 7 with their five kids: Jraice, Leilene “Neenee” Aiaga, Tony, Sage, and Sienna-Vee.

He loves his family so much that the biggest hardship for him when he is competing is not the tricky course, but being away from his loved ones. “I think the biggest challenge when I’m on the road is being away from my family,” the golfer told Deseret News in 2017. He is also very thankful to his “number 1 support” aka his wife for taking of his family in his absence. And Alayna describes their kids as “pure bliss.” When parents radiate so much love and adoration for their family, it’s only natural for fans to fall in love with them too!

This one fan described an encounter she had with the golfer on the greens of the 2024 Tour Championship. “My son stood off of the 9th green on Friday and asked Tony for his ball (because Tony is his favorite golfer) and without hesitation reached into his pocket and handed it to him with a fist bump 🥺”, the fan commented. Fans love to see their favorite golfers walk to the tee or walk off from the hole. It’s their time to interact with their favorite star, and at times, you may get lucky and get a ball. Bryson DeChambeau also gave away his ball to the young lad at Valhalla and even engaged in a slight word war with a man who caught the ball, instead of the young fan.

The golfer is known for being super kind and friendly towards his fans. Remember the fan encounter he had at the 2016 Dean & DeLuca Invitational? While playing the game, the golfer accidentally hit a fan named Elisa Butler with his golf ball, but what happened next was truly unexpected! Finaue surprised the fan by visiting her home with flowers, a get-well card, and chocolates. Talk about a class act! So yes, the fans have enough reasons to love Finau and his big family.
