Golf can be an infuriating sport at times, and no one knows it better than Tyrrell Hatton. Despite being a fan favorite leading up to the event, the 31-year-old visibly struggled on the course on Thursday. But, the golfer’s viral moment came in the aftermath of a poor bunker shot.
The frustrated golfer proved that he was only human as he went on to visibly flip off the sand trap on the ninth hole. Hatton’s reaction didn’t come as a big surprise to fans, who are already familiar with his fiery nature on the greens. The golfer had also appeared at the Wells Fargo Championship last week, where he tied for the 3rd position. He took home a jaw-dropping $1,180,01 in earnings following his good outing on Quail Hollow Golf Course.
Despite a not-so-memorable first day out at the AT&T Byron Nelson, Hatton will wish to bounce back into form soon. The $9,500,000 event will be followed by the PGA Championship, which is starting on May 18th.

The event boasts the highest prize purse of any non-elevated event in the PGA Tour. The winner will take home a sensational $1,710,000 in earnings. Meanwhile, they will also earn valuable OWGR points, and FedEx Cup points. The runner-up of the event will have to settle for a $1,035,000 paycheck.
