The year 2021 was great for him as he reached number four in OWGR. It was the highest ranking of his career till now. But things have taken an unexpected turn, and his fans are shocked to learn about his new OWGR ranking.

According to his OWGR profile, since July 2017, DeChambeau has maintained his rank in the Top 100. But things changed. He has experienced a significant fall in his career for the first time in years. The golfer’s current OWGR ranking is 102. Although it was an enormous shock, somewhere everyone saw it coming.

After joining the LIV Golf Invitational Series, despite the restrictions from PGA Tour, every Saudi-backed league player started seeing their ranks drop on the OWGR table. LIV Golf does not have the authority to provide world ranking points, although the CEO Greg Norman has tried his maximum to get approval from the world ranking committee.

After finishing T-8 on the last year’s Open Championship leaderboard, he was ranked number 28. And since then, Asian Tour’s Saudi International is the only event he has played that is OWGR-sanctioned. Although switching Tours is the main reason for his tremendous rank fall, it is not the only reason for the same. cannot be the only reason for his fall. After his two-win campaign in 2020-2021, he was often injured, making it hard for him to win or make cuts.
How did the golf world react to the news?
The news put his fans heartbroken, but not everyone felt the same. While it did not bother some golf lovers, some enjoyed it to their heart’s content. The reactions turned into people trolling and taking a jab at DeChamebau. They believe it was supposed to happen because he switched the Tour.

I always wonder if there are regrets of the top level players who went to LIV. I know it was a ton of $, but they grew up playing wanting to compete on the PGA tour. Actually wonder if they miss it.
