The biggest names in golf have descended upon New York for the 105th edition of the PGA Championship, with the coming days promising a lot of excitement to fans. One golfer, in particular, that fans will be looking forward to is none other than PGA Tour’s Jason Day.

The former World No. 1, who comes into the major after a resounding victory at Texas’ TPC Craig Ranch, had a heartening revelation about his friend and golf maestro Tiger Woods on Wednesday.

A few years ago, Day’s heroics on the course catapulted him to global fame. In those seasons, the Aussie claimed many highly-coveted titles, including the PGA Championship, the Players Championship, and two FedEx Cup Playoff titles, among others.

But, as fate would have it, Day’s back injury saw the golfer struggle over the next couple of years. He even withdrew from a number of tournaments, greatly disappointing his hordes of fans. Last Sunday, however, the 35-year-old scripted a sensational return to his winning ways, claiming the AT&T Byron Nelson title.

After a 1,835-day-long title drought, the 2015 PGA Championship winner became a champion once again, pocketing an incredible $1.71 million in earnings. Even fellow compatriot Tiger Woods couldn’t help but extend a congratulations to Day on his new feat. Appearing in a press conference ahead of the year’s second major, the golfer hilariously revealed, “He did [congratulate me], but I can’t say what he said because a lot of it was like F-words in it.

The 47-year-old may be sitting out the major this year, but his sheer influence in the game is still unparalleled. On Wednesday, Day further talked about how Woods helped him “get back” into form following his rough patch.

Both Woods and Day have wowed fans globally with their impeccable golfing chops in the past. But, there is another thing that the two PGA Tour pros have in common. It’s their prolonged struggle with injuries. While Day nabbed his 13th PGA Tour win last week, it will be some time before his friend and Golf Hall of Famer returns to action.

Nonetheless, the latter has been critical in aiding Day’s comeback. “We would text each other constantly about just trying to push each other,” expressed the Byron Nelson winner. “It was just more of a — kind of we’re pushing each other to try and get back to where we need to be kind of thing.

The PGA Championship kicks off at New York’s renowned Oak Hill Country Club, with the tournament getting its winner on May 21. The highly competitive field this year boasts many of the top players in the world, including heavyweights from PGA Tour’s rival LIV league.
