‘Lose Some Kind of Respect’: Tiger Woods’ Ex-Caddie Steve Williams Once Lashed Out at the Golf Legend After Personal Life Drama With Elin Nordegren

Tiger Woods has been involved in various controversies throughout his career. Despite all his professional success, the golf legend has had a pretty rough personal life. And after his famous alleged controversy before his divorce from Elin Nordegren, Woods was heavily scrutinized by the world around him. However, Woods once made a decision that led him straight into another controversy in his professional life. And it was when he fired his longtime caddie, Steve Williams, without a warning.

When Tiger Woods fired his longtime caddie

Steve Williams had been working with Tiger Woods for a very long time. Other than their professional relationship as caddie and golfer, the two were also great friends. However, when Woods got into controversies related to his marriage, the golfer was seemingly disturbed. And during the same time, Woods decided to change his caddie and relieved Williams from his duties.

It came as a shock to Woods’ long-time caddie. After being fired by the former world champion, Williams explained how he had lost respect for Woods. Referring to Woods’ situation with Nordegren, Williams said, “Well, I think when you’re great friends with somebody and a situation like this occurs, you obviously lose some kind of respect… I’ve stuck by him through and through. Now he decides things aren’t going well for him, and I’m down the road, so the timing’s very disappointing.”

During his interview, Williams also hinted that he might open up about details regarding the golfer in his upcoming book.

He also talked about how it would be really hard to renew his friendship with Tiger Woods after how the golfer had acted toward him.

Woods’ announcement about his shocking decision

Woods didn’t talk about the matter much. However, he did make an announcement about his decision on his website. He wrote, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it’s time for a change.”

Woods also mentioned that Williams a.k.a. ‘Stevie’ was a great friend to him along with being an outstanding caddie. But despite all the accomplishments he shared with Williams, he decided to let him go.

The New Zealand-based caddie was thoroughly disappointed by Woods’ actions. And it was not easy for him to accept the fact that he was fired without notice.
