Professional rivalries are part and parcel of sports. The same is the case with golf, which has witnessed various rivalries brewing among professionals. Tiger Woods’ ex-caddie recently spoke about the same and revealed the 15-time major championship winner’s greatest rival.

Williams and Woods entered into the caddie and professional roles in 1999. Moreover, Steve was the main architect in the World Golf Hall of members, winning the 1999 PGA Championship. Tiger achieved immense success in his golf career in 2000 when he won the remaining three majors, and in 2001, he won the Masters. As a result, he registered probably one of the most incredible feats in golf, the Tiger Slam with Steve on his bag. Furthermore, the duo also won 13 major championships together but ended their term in 2011.

Woods’ former and long-time caddie recently spoke about Tiger’s most significant rival. However, it is not the six-time major championship winner and the fellow World Golf Hall of Fame member Phil Mickelson. Woods had a professional rivalry with a fellow professional greater than that with the 51-year-old.

Williams made an incredible revelation about Tiger’s rivalry with Vijay Singh in the latest episode of the podcast Chasing Majors. At the same time, they also talked about Woods’ emphatic win at the 2006 Deutsche Bank Championship, where he coincidently defeated the Fiji-based professional.

Steve said, “You know, Vijay and of course, you know, as strong as the relationship, oh sorry! the rivalry between Tiger and Phil. Tiger and Vijay was even greater probably, I mean, the two guys just hated to lose to each other.”

He added, “Tiger was desperate on Sunday. You know, just somehow get in the mix. And then he goes out in 29 I mean,  it’s just it’s another story that’s just mind-boggling.”

Steve’s words prove how much it means for Woods to win an event. At the same time, how much he wants to beat his competitors. One can see how Tiger’s rivalry with Vijay Sing is arguably one of the greatest. Don’t you agree?
