The 2022 PGA Championship had a dramatic end to its final round on Sunday, with Justin Thomas emerging as the winner. He played brilliant golf in all four rounds and hit some beautiful shots at the challenging Southern Hills Country Club. The PGA Tour professional was seven shots behind the leader as he entered the final round. Thomas made an excellent start and hit a massive drive on the first hole, but a poor approach shot left him too far from the hole, and in the end, he made a two-putt for par.

Moving on to the second hole, he hit two good shots and had a good look at a birdie. Unfortunately, his birdie putt went past the cup, and he tapped in for his par.

He found himself short of the green on the third hole and had to hit a delicate chip. Justin a low bump and run, but it did not come out as he had expected, and he left him a decent length for par. However, he missed the put and dropped a shot.

Moving to the par 5, fifth hole, the American professional hit his drive in the middle of the fairway and hit a good second shot with maybe a three-wood. But he overdrew his shot, and it ended up in the left greenside bunker. He made a brilliant up and down for birdie. Justin ended the front nine with an incredible birdie on the ninth hole.

Justin Thomas makes a strong comeback on the back nine

Fast-forwarding to the 11th hole, Justin came short of the green and had a long uphill putt for a birdie. The 29-year-old made a birdie on this hole and the next one as well. Moreover, he made a crucial putt for par on the 14th hole, and he was two shots off the lead with four holes to play.

JT made a good up and down for a par on the 16th hole. He found the greenside bunker on the drivable par 4, 17th, and made a birdie. The two-time major championship winner missed his birdie putt on the last and finished the regulation play at five-under-par. As a result, he entered into a three-hole aggregate playoff with Will Zalatoris.

He hit a beautiful drive on the 13th, the first playoff hole, but the ball ended in the right rough. As a result, Thomas had to lay up, but hit his third shot close and made a par on the first playoff hole. Justin drove the green on the second playoff, the par 4, 17th. He hit his eagle putt a bit short, and in the end, he had to settle for a birdie.

He hit two great shots on the third playoff hole and had a decent look at birdie. Thomas had two putts to win the major championship and made par to claim his second major title. 

Thomas achieves a great feat with his latest win

Justin equaled the biggest final-day comeback in the PGA Championship event after overcoming a seven-shot deficit in the final round. Notably, he is only the sixth player in the last 80 years to reach 15 PGA Tour wins, including two majors before 30. It was his first win since the 2021 Players Championship.
