Are Bryson DeChambeau's injury woes signaling the beginning of the end for his golf career?

One thing that every golfer dreads the most? Yes, you guessed that right, an injury! After missing the three LIV tournaments back to back, Charles Howell III is on the path to missing the fourth tournament, LIV Golf UK. Howell injured his leg, likely a stress fracture, right after the LIV Golf Singapore in May, where he scored an equal par to rest on T40. And fans have been waiting to see the glimpses of the golfer ever since.

Howell first withdrew from LIV Golf Houston in June, and his friend and fellow golfer Bryson DeChambeau shared an update with NBC “He said he just couldn’t do it this week, but he’s trying to be ready for Nashville, which is great”, said DeChambeau. But did Howell show up for LIV Golf Nashville? No! DeChambeau was paired up with John Caitlin after the Crushers’ teammate couldn’t get into the tournament.

With LIV Golf UK ready to take off from July 26, the fans are eager to know if Howell is ready for the greens. Recently in a press conference with LIV Golf UK, DeChambeau was asked if there was any update on Howell and indeed there was. Yeah. I think Paul talked to him last week and gave us a bit of an update. He’s hitting golf balls, and he’s mending. He’s in the right direction,” said DeChambeau. Paul Casey is another member of the Crushers GC, and according to him, Howell is already practicing his strikes and strategies.

But will Howell be in all ready for the UK tournament? Probably no. “We don’t want him to come back too early to hurt anything, and want to make sure he’s fully ready to go so when he does come back he’s comfortable”, the two-time major winner continued. The Crushers want their teammate to be in proper shape before he returns to the game. Everyone knows how easy it is to hurt a leg injury again, that too while playing a sport like golf. Multiple things can go wrong and Howell’s teammates don’t want that.

Lastly, DeChambeau gave the fans a hint that they could witness Howell at the LIV Golf Greenbrier on 16 August. “If he comes out Greenbrier and whatnot and doesn’t feel comfortable, I’m more than willing to say, dude, take your time. You need to be healthy. It’s important”. DeChambeau expressed concern that Howell might rush his return because of fear of losing his status, given that this was his first injury. “This is one of his first injuries of his career, so it’s a little scary for him”.

Howell has already withdrawn from the last three events and LIV UK will be his fourth. The absence has marked a significant impact on the Crushers. However, the players have handled it quite well.

Are Bryson DeChambeau's injury woes signaling the beginning of the end for his golf career?

Have an interesting take?

The Crushers are performing well, despite their teammate Charles Howell III being absent from the last three events because of this brutal leg injury. They worked quite well in the first tournament without their teammate and rested at T4 in LIV Golf Houston.

The Crushers team consists of 3-time PGA Tour Winner Paul Casey, 2-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau, Anirban Lahiri, and the 3-time PGA Tour winner Charles Howell III. However, because of Howell’s injury, John Catlin has stepped in as his replacement, joining forces with the remaining trio to keep the team’s momentum going.

That’s not all. Under the leadership of captain Bryson DeChambeau, the Crushers have shown exceptional teamwork and determination, securing second place in both LIV Golf Nashville and Andalucia. Amazing right? So, it’s safe to say that fans have nothing to worry about their performance in the next tournament as well.

The Crushers are still at the top of the 2024 LIV Standings. Even though Charles Howell III is not playing, the team is doing well. They work together and use their skills to stay in the first place. So get ready to cheer on your favorites at the next LIV Showdown in JCB Golf and Country Club, England.
