It seems that LIV Golf is at an all-time high! Why? Well, firstly, the league’s events are flourishing; secondly, a LIV star, Brooks Koepka, won a major championship last week; and finally, the league’s enthusiastic fans are claiming that the 5-time major winner’s LIV team may now be purchased by a renowned sports apparel and equipment brand for a multi-billion-dollar deal!
One of LIV Golf’s fan accounts, LIV Golf Enthusiast, recently reported that a popular sports industry brand may be leaning towards purchasing one of the Saudi-backed league’s 12 teams. The alleged deal was reported a day before the final round of the PGA Championship, and after Koepka had won the 5th Major of his career, a whopping $2 billion number was dropped as a valuation!

There was a rumor a year ago that Adidas might take over one of the teams in the Saudi-backed league. Now, it seems that allegation is still going strong, but this time, it is not Adidas that will purchase the team but Nike. As per the LIV fan page’s tweet, Nike is looking to purchase Koepka’s Smash GC. After all, Nike also sponsors him, and the golfer was also wearing the brand all throughout his presence at Oak Hill!
The entire alleged deal news was reported by Golf Magic, and then the article was shared by NUCLR GOLF on Twitter with a question. “Would you pay $2Billion for a LIV squad?” they asked.

LIV Golf Enthusiast, a page that appears to be a die-hard LIV Golf fan but is not officially associated with the league, posted on Twitter on the penultimate day of the PGA Championship that if Brooks Koepka went on to win, the purchase value of his LIV Team, Smash GC, “could surpass 2 Billion for a potential buyer.”
After Koepka lifted the Wanamaker trophy, he posted another tweet crunching the numbers for a rumored purchase. In the tweet, they said that Smash GC would be rebranded as Swoosh GC to go with Nike’s vibe. It was also mentioned that the deal is currently being negotiated and that the range of the deal is near $2,000,000,000. What a smash, right? Well, if it does happen, that is!
Nevertheless, the potential deal itseff was enough to stir up the golf world when NUCLR GOLF tweeted the news.
