After multiple iterations of their disappointment over a delay in the OWGR’s decision, LIV golfers have finally gotten their verdict. The league had applied for tour status with the OWGR so that their golfers could be ranked within the world body ranking. Currently, performances at LIV events are not considered for the OWGR calculations.
The verdict has arrived, and OWGR officially announced the same. Bryson DeChambeau has been an early bird in responding to the decision. He had been quite vocal in the matter since the beginning.

The Twitter page ‘Flushing It’ recently quoted Bryson DeChambeau and shared his response to the OWGR’s decision to not consider LIV Golf as a basis for ranking. The verdict was against the appeal made by LIV Golf.
Bryson DeChambeau expressed his regret and stated that things have been this way for the past few years. He commented on the justifications issued by the OWGR, and said, “To be frank, giving us spots based on how we finish during the season should be the answer.”
DeChambeau added that considering the top 12 golfers at LIV, at the end of the season should be a reasonable approach. Or at least that is what we get from his statement. “Top 12 would be a perfect way to restore what once was.”

The verdict stated that while LIV golfers are definitely of high caliber, the format of the events makes it difficult for a general comparison. The statement strongly emphasized that the decision was not political.
After OWGR’s verdict, LIV Golf issued a response from the organization’s side as well.

The statement issued by LIV Golf on its Instagram handle claimed OWGR was failing to fairly represent all participants of the sport. It further added that “Professional Golf is now without a true or global scoring and ranking system.” Since major tournaments such as the Masters determine the field based on OWGR standings, this could affect the fairness of the sport on a large scale.
The note concluded by assuring the fans that LIV will strive to find a solution to this issue. It promised an assurance of an independent ranking system. The statement makes one wonder what plans are cooking up in the LIV camp right now.
A fan had suggested in his comment that maybe LIV should come up with its own global ranking system. The comment assured that while initially there may not be met with a great reception, it might eventually find its place with the fans.
