The year was jammed with controversies for the game of golf, with LIV Golf leading the charge. From getting embroiled in antitrust litigation with the PGA Tour to supposedly partnering with the same body in a $3 billion merger, it has dominated the headlines. However, amidst all this, we see the Saudi-backed league being drawn into the spotlight yet again, courtesy of Phil Mickelson.
The HyFlyers GC went ahead to surprise its fans by producing a new front for their team. However, as the 53-year-old’s squad changed its logo for the upcoming season, one can’t help but become curious as to why the club engaged in a “refresh for 2024!”

A post was shared on Instagram, a little while ago by the Saudi-backed league. The video reveals the new logo of the Mickelson-led team for next season, all the while sharing the same with the caption, “Refresh for 2024.” However, it’s not as if the emblem was made anew just for the sake of creativity.
As the chaos surrounding the litigation came to an end with the talks of the PGAT-LIV Golf merger, the PIF-funded circuit was hit with another lawsuit by the Fallen Footwear brand. As per the filing, the HyFlyers GC was accused of trademark infringement by Argentine company Cool Brands Supply, which owns the intellectual property rights to the apparel label.
The old logo which was sported by the PIF-funded circuit’s team was claimed to be very similar to that of the footwear brand in the sense that both included a pair of the letter ‘F’ reflected with each other. And, as the 45X PGA Tour champ’s team started using the same in 2023, the attorneys for the company slapped the tour and the squad with a lawsuit, while claiming how the use is “not just reckless and inexplicable” but also “willful infringement and unfair competition.”

However, the new logo is just one of the changes that the community will witness in the upcoming year for HyFlyers GC. In addition to the emblem, the pro golfer’s squad would see another new face coming in, but this time, in the form of Andy Ogletree.

HyFlyers GC welcomes Andy Ogletree
The relegation and subsequent leaving of James Piot from the 6X major champ’s squad led to Andy Ogletree joining the same ahead of the 2024 season. But, the young American was able to join the league not by winning the LIV Golf Promotions event, but by cementing his position at the top spot in the Order of Merit.

However, it would not be the first time that the golfer would be appearing on the Saudi-backed circuit. Surprisingly, the 25-year-old had played the debut tournament of the alternate tour in London but he was unable to dish out his best, scoring 24 over par 234 and finishing last due to an injury while taking home $120,000. And, this proved to be beneficial for the athlete as he began to focus on the Asian Tour, which finally led him back to LIV Golf, and as a part of Mickelson’s team at that. A truly inspiring story, one must say!
