According to the reports by Deadline, a new comedy series centered around a professional golfer who leads a competing league to the PGA will feature Will Ferrell as the lead actor is going to be hitting the market. 

Although the show’s specific plot has not been officially announced, it appears to be inspired by LIV Golf and its CEO, Greg Norman, a former two-time major champion from Australia who has generated controversy with the startup tour.

According to Deadline, Ferrell’s and Jessica Elbaum’s Gloria Sanchez Productions has teamed up with Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street to create the TV package.

Although it is going to be a fictional series, fans would definitely draw a comparison between the two golfing leagues.

Ferrell, who gained fame from his work on Saturday Night Live and transitioned that success into leading roles in feature films, is set to star in his first comedy series. Although he has only taken on a few major television roles since his time on SNL, such as his recent appearance in the Apple TV+ limited series The Shrink Next Door alongside Paul Rudd. 

Meanwhile, T-Street is currently enjoying the success of Johnson’s Peacock comedy series Poker Face, while Gloria Sanchez recently completed three seasons of the black comedy Dead to Me on Netflix

Ferrell, an enthusiastic golfer, has hosted The Will Powered Golf Classic for the past 20 years to raise funds for Cancer for College. He will next appear alongside Reese Witherspoon in the Amazon comedy film You’re Cordially Invited, and is represented by UTA, Mosaic, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
