Jon Rahm shared that Athletic Bilbao, a soccer club and his favorite team, was an influence in making the logo. They are unofficially called the Lions, and he wanted to incorporate that in his team’s logo.
“Then this style of the lion and then the lettering is basically where I try to use my ancestry and my ties to the Basque country where I’m from, and they use a lot of the writing that you would see there to create the actual logo,” he said.

While brainstorming names for his new team, he shared an instance, “At some point, somebody said Legion XIII, that we were going to be the 13th team, and I and my wife and a couple of other people kind of looked at each other like, it has a better ring than other things.”
