Anthony Kim is back! The prodigal player had disappeared from the greens for over a decade. But it looks like he is finally ready for his re-debut! The American golfer, who will probably be joining LIV Golf, is bound to make a comeback at the Jeddah event. This news may come as a shock to many, as Kim played on the PGA Tour in his prime.

But it looks like Greg Norman was finally able to bring him over to the Saudi-backed league. Whether or not the player performs well will only be discovered later. But for the time being, golf fans are rejoicing as the prodigal son returns!

The enticing promotional video of the LIV Golf Jeddah event looks like an ode to Kim’s return. The golfer himself seems to make an appearance in it and the promotional video showcased AK calling it a “rebirth” and a “dance of redemption.”

With the disappeared golfer making his return to Jeddah, the event is bound to attract many eyes. However, he won’t be joining any team as of now. The American golfer will play as a wildcard in the event. But with a decade-long duration of staying away from the greens, will the American golfer be able to redeem himself?

Anthony Kim joining LIV Golf: Redemption arc or just a marketing tactic

Making him enter as a wildcard in Jeddah serves as a win-win condition for Greg Norman and LIV Golf. If he performs well at the event, then LIV Golf can proudly claim they brought back ‘the next Tiger Woods‘ from his hiatus. This will serve as the perfect redemption for AK, too.

On the flip side, if he performs badly, it will just be a marketing ploy for the breakaway league. The PGA Tour also invites NBA and NFL players on the greens as wildcards. So LIV Golf can portray it as the same if things go south.

But Anthony Kim will be looking to make his return to the greens a stellar one. He is already working with a new coaching team to refine his game for Jeddah. LIV Golf Jeddah is scheduled to take place at Royal Greens Golf Club on March 1–3.
