We have great news for the tens of Ripper GC fans out there! Next year, they will get to see their favorite team line up with the same squad. Yes, you heard that right. Cameron Smith will be captaining Lucas Herbert, Matt Jones, and Marc Leishman in the 2025 LIV Golf season.
Cam Smith confirmed this while speaking to reporters after the Dallas event where his team won the Team Championship, saying, “Can’t wait for next year. Next year’s going to be the same lineup and I really think there’s going to be some added motivation for Saudi next year.”
While several teams have struggled to find form in the LIV Golf season, such as Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC and Dustin Johnson’s 4Acers GC, Ripper GC has had a fruitful 2025.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t smooth sailing for Smith &Co as started the season slowly without coming in the top 3. Fate shifted its outlook and smiled on them at Adelaide in April. The team then drastically improved their performances with a win in Singapore, fourth place in Andalucia, sixth place in Nashville, and runners-up finishes in the United Kingdom and Greenbrier.

Cam Smith said the team regretted not starting 2024 well. Nevertheless, he reiterated that going to their home country, Australia, motivated them to prepare better and work harder. He also said that the setback would act as a motivation for them next year as they go to Adelaide right after the first event in Saudi Arabia. Smith will be hoping they can defend their title.

Nevertheless, he credited their stellar season to the great bond that the team has developed, saying, “You’re always digging deep for these guys, genuinely. It’s a pretty cool feeling to have.” While the team hasn’t done well individually, their collective performance made sure that they stayed high up in the standings, outplaying high-level competition from the likes of Smash GC and 4Aces GC, who have given their captains a dilemma about team selections next year.

Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have a conundrum on their hands ahead of 2025
Both Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have very high standards as golfers. Johnson is a two-time major winner and former World No. 1 while Koepka dominated the field in his time at the PGA Tour and has won 5 majors. Their teams have the likes of Patrick Reed and Taylor Gooch but the results have just not come for them.

Smash GC won two events and finished in the top 3 twice. However, Kevin Na’s Iron Heads handed them a decisive defeat in the Team Championship. They have struggled to find periods of form and an outstanding performance is an outlier. Koepka will surely be thinking of tweaking the team set up for next year.
Similarly, Johnson’s 4Aces have struggled with performances and languished in the bottom parts of the standings this year. They didn’t win a single event this year and finished 10 or above six times. With names like Johnson, Reed, and Harold Varner III, the question may not be about talent levels. For LIV Golf 2025, they might have to look through the tournament’s qualifying school for talent. Or they could find players from other avenues, such as free agents, to beef up their collective abilities.
