Is Bryson DeChambeau's Trump connection ruining his reputation in the golf world?

“What most surprised you about Trump’s game?” It truly does result in a debate of sorts, with many in the community taking jabs at the former POTUS while others compliment Donald Trump’s skills. And Bryson DeChambeau was part of the latter group, as he dished out huge praise for the businessman’s golfing skills.

The athlete was spotted in an interview with GOLF.com when the reporter posed the same query to the LIV Golf Pro. “Man, his iron play was great,” replied DeChambeau swiftly as he added, “I can’t tell you the number of times he stuffed it on the green within 30 feet of regulation.” That’s not all. The ‘Scientist’ also took to convey his admiration for Donald Trump’s consistency in his swing while expressing his desire to replicate it: “His driver swing is the most repeatable thing I have ever seen. I wish mine was that repeatable.”

The 30-year-old had, a while back, collaborated with the 78-year-old in his ‘Break 50’ series. The content that was released on DeChambeau’s YouTube channel went on to garner close to a quarter million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. Moreover, it also increased the athlete’s reach on the platform to a million subscribers. And the golf skills that Donald Trump showcased that day seem to have captured the LIV golfer’s attention, as he applauded the former president for the same in the interview. Suffice it to say, it did spark a lot of debate.

Bryson DeChambeau’s praise for Donald Trump sends golf world into frenzy

As soon as the community witnessed the ‘Break 50’ collab, many took to both compliment and make fun of the ex-POTUS for his skills. Rick Shiels, on the 261st episode of his podcast, couldn’t help but point out the peculiarity of the politician’s gameplay while praising him: “Donald Trump could really hit it… Certainly, his putting was probably the most unusual putting style I’ve ever seen in my life.” However, many fans also took to tease the businessman, as they dubbed him the “worst athlete ever.” And Bryson DeChambeau dishing out such praises amid this debate just led to many responding sarcastically: “A bit too much a**-kissing for my taste,” and “Like he’s gonna say he sucks, right?”

There have been many instances where the fans called out the former President of the United States for his supposed ‘cheating’. Back in 2023, a video of Donald Trump was shared by NUCLR GOLF showcasing him taking a ‘gimme’ on the greens. Surprisingly, he shoved the ball as he walked to the hole, making ‘easy work on the greens.’ A fan didn’t forget to allude to the same as they commented, “He cheats at golf. Who cares about any other aspect of his game?”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Bryson DeChambeau's Trump connection ruining his reputation in the golf world?

Have an interesting take?

Nick Adams, a presidential appointee, had dubbed the 78-year-old politician “the greatest athlete to ever be President” on his X handle. Some in the community did agree, although not to that extent, as they commented, “Man can play golf for sure!” under the recent post that talked about the interview. However, another user, while dishing out his praise, brought in his granddaughter Kai Trump into the fray and compared the two; “Bryson isn’t wrong, Trump has an extremely consistent swing. It may be that range of motion is engrained into his golf swing, and he literally can’t swing the club differently… but respect where it’s due. Trump is a good golfer. I doubt he can beat his granddaughter though.” The curiosity he sparked appears to be valid, seeing as how the young golfer, just days ago, verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes.

Who do you think would come out on top? Would it be Donald Trump, whom Bryson DeChambeau praised for his consistent swings or his granddaughter, Kai Trump, whose swing the LIV Golf Pro termed nothing short of ‘pure’?
