Lefty will play on Sunday in the final round in an attempt to grab his first LIV win. He is in close competition with two other champions. Cameron Smith is leading the tournament with a four-shot lead. At the same time, Dean Burmester is tied for the second position with Phil Mickelson.
In his Twitter post after round 2, he said: “I haven’t won in 2 years, but I’m in the last group with a shot tomorrow. It’ll be tough since I’m four back of Cameron Smith, but I’m looking forward to it. ”
Mickelson also acknowledged his team’s effort and wrote, “I’m also so proud of my team, The HyFlyers, who have made so much progress this year. We have a great shot at the podium tomorrow.” His team is at present fourth in the standings. Mickelson’s tweet about the $25 Millon event conveys how important the win is for him.

In the second round, Cameron Smith birdied three of the last four holes and eventually carded a 4-under 67. Mickelson also had the same score of 67. A bogie late into the round compromised his showing a little. At the end of round two, Smith was leading Lefty by four strokes. Mickelson was one of the chief recruits of the Saudi-backed circuit when it was launched in 2021 but he hasn’t won any event to date.
