Do you remember the two sides agreed to a framework agreement on June 6, 2023? It’s been almost two years since the PGA Tour and PIF announced their framework agreement, and we’ve been stuck in limbo, waiting for a final deal. There have been speculations about the two sides getting closer to cutting a deal sooner or later.
However, it’s been a game of cat and mouse, with Jay Monahan’s team and Greg Norman. Golf fans have seen time and again, how the clubs trade blame on each other for the delay. But wait, a recent Instagram reel from Cameron Smith, captain of Ripper GC, has sparked excitement among golf fans.
In the video, the captain of Ripper GC sported the Greyson logo on his right chest, signaling a pretty significant shift in his gear. It’s interesting because Cameron Smith had been with Original Penguin for years, but now it looks like he and his LIV Golf team are teaming up with Greyson Clothiers for 2025.

The news was also shared by Nucir Golf on X captioning the post as “Cam Smith appears to be wearing Greyson apparel, a sign that another major sponsor may have inked a deal with a LIV Golf team. In recent weeks, we saw that Bryson’s Crushers inked a deal with Reebok. Now, Ripper GC may have a major deal of their own.”

Shockingly, Greyson’s apparel is endorsed by notable figures in the sports industry including some PGA Tour golfers. Justin Thomas is one of their ambassadors, along with other prominent players such as Luke Donald, Erik Van Rooyen, Luke List, Kevin Dougherty, Harry Higgs, and Sam Ryder.
Does this development suggest that the long-awaited merger deal is finally nearing completion? Before you start pounding upon it let us remind you that this new sponsorship is just after a brutal incident at LIV Golf.
Ex-Player leaves LIV Golf after no improvement in OWGR
On January 11, a young LIV golfer, Eugenio Chacarra, made headlines by announcing his departure from Greg Norman’s team. Known for his colorful socks, Chacarra made a significant decision in 2022 by leaving college to join LIV Golf during its inaugural season. But why did he then leave LIV Golf?

Well, it revolves around Greg Norman’s fake promises to newcomers about OWGR points. Since the very beginning, the tour has been facing challenges to get its players on the OWGR ranking. The ongoing battle between LIV Golf and the OWGR has been pretty well-known. The way LIV Golf is set up—with its 54-hole events and team format—has always made it tricky. But last year, Norman ended up pulling back the application that had been sent to the OWGR, which probably caught the players off guard.
While leaving his first club Chacarra said, “When I joined LIV they promised OWGR and majors. But it didn’t happen. I trusted them. I was the first young guy, then the others came after I made the decision. But OWGR and majors still haven’t happened.
I see what it’s like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes.”
He continued, “On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn’t matter if you finish thirtieth or first, only money. I’m not a guy who wants more money. What will change my life is playing in Hawaii and qualifying for the majors, qualifying for the Masters, the Ryder Cup.”
