The game of golf is a lot of things but it is nothing if not fun. The community has gone through a pivotal time since the merger was announced two months ago and the divided opinions have caused a ton of controversies. Still, amid it all, LIV Golfers always manage to find a reason to enjoy themselves.
The latest hype has been about the 1-V-1 match between Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau. The two captains of the LIV Golf circuit have decided on a friendly match across 9-holes that will be filmed and available on YouTube. But that’s not the only thing interesting about their peer relationship. It’s the quirky banter that makes playing on the Saudi circuit incredibly enjoyable.

In an early practice round, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Tringale are seen on the golf course. The three players partnered up, much like their 4-person team would. However, when the time came to take an easy putt, DeChambeau gave the shot to Tringale instead of Lefty.

The 53-year-old seemed disgruntled by the oversight. “You got one of the best putters in the game with a 3-and-a-half footer,” Mickelson said to the 29-year-old pro. DeChambeau refused to give him the putt to which Lefty said, “Sergio gives me those in the Ryder Cup.” He truly couldn’t believe that his friend wouldn’t give him the easy putt.
Mickelson’s competitive side has always been the source of his edge, but it is also nice to see him so jovial with a competitor. They appear to be enjoying themselves on the greens in the practice rounds amid the stress of the LIV Golf Greenbrier event.

What shocked Phil Mickelson about Bryson DeChambeau
The young golfer took a shot in the practice rounds earlier which seemed nearly impossible. Making the ball pop to reach the greens with an intricate calculation, DeChambeau proved to Mickelson that he was worthy of the kind words the senior golfer bestowed upon him at the turn of the century.
Mickelson mentioned years ago during a talk with American sports analyst Pat McAfee that Bryson DeChambeau has a unique approach to golf that surpasses the usual technicality. He approaches the game with a scientific mind, calculating the curvature, hops, trajectory, and wind direction. The former World No. 2 is in awe of the 29-year-old golfer and admires his style.
