With no updates on the merger, despite the deadline being almost a year ago, Greg Norman has been planning out the expansion of LIV Golf. Well, the PGA Tour is not on hold either. But as it turns out, the White Shark is fully trying to recruit some of the top PGA Tour pros for the 2025 season of the league again. Even back in April, he stated that he sat down with one of the pros to discuss the diversion of leagues. However, despite walking him through the whole process, he rejected it. But Norman stated that the player was indeed left utterly impressed by how the breakaway league has been functioning.

And well, the moment the news arrived, the golf community suspected it was Viktor Hovland. This was because of his absence from the field during the announcement. As it turns out, the speculations are not over yet. LIV Golf is already on its mission. NUCLR Golf took to their official X account and reported that a LIV Golf team general manager has claimed that already two players have confirmed to join the league in the next season. “Two guys that had very big offers that are now calling would love to be on a LIV team and said that the worst decision they made was not accepting the offer and coming over,” they wrote.

He went on to add how things have been in motion ever since the LIV Golf Team Championship in Dallas, and well, things are starting to align between the conditions of the league and the layers. “Things are starting to happen from either players directly or agents calling exploring and wanting to look at the possibility of coming on,” they added.

And well, once again, upon hearing the update, the golf community could not keep their calm. They went on to guess who might be the big names that could take up the LIV Golf contract.

The same names keep coming over and over for the suspects

Wesley Bryan has been working hard to secure his PGA Tour card for the 2025 season. He is currently ranked 125 on the FedEx Cup standings and 217 on the OWGR list. Given Bryan’s current status on the PGA Tour, he may be a potential candidate for LIV Golf’s recruitment efforts in 2025. LIV Golf has been known to target players who are either outside the top ranks or seeking new opportunities, offering competitive contracts and a different playing format.

Will Viktor Hovland finally make the jump to LIV Golf, or is it all just rumors?

Bryan’s situation makes him a plausible target for LIV Golf’s expansion plans. Taking to this, one of the suggested, “@bryanbrosgolf Wesley, this is a no-brainer. Hope you’re making the call! Good luck!” Joel Dahmen, too, is struggling to get his PGA Tour card, as he is ranked just inside the cut-off points for exemptions. Just like Bryan, guesses for him have the same reason. “@Joel_Dahmen this you?” Commented a fan.

Well, apart from bagging the low-ranked players, they also look out for the highest-ranked players who have been trying hard to clinch trophies but are frustratingly failing to do so. Taking to this, another guessed, “Wesley and Rory.”

In the past, Greg Norman has stated how he has been eyeing Hideki Matsuyama. When he won in Las Vegas, he went on and even congratulated him and accepted that he wanted to sign him in an interview with Golf Digest. On the other hand, while Tom Kim is a talented player with three PGA Tour wins, his 2024 season was marked by emotional outbursts and disciplinary scrutiny, such as damaging a locker in frustration after a playoff loss and an incident involving unsportsmanlike conduct at the Presidents Cup.

Taking all of these into consideration, one of them gave out a full list of potential players who could move to LIV Golf for the upcoming season. They commented, “Hideki, Hovland, Cameron Young, and Tom Kim.”.

Tony Finau has been part of previous LIV Golf discussions. However, it was earlier reported that he had turned down the offer. He was approached for the 2024 season, and after contemplating, he came back for his tenth season on the PGA Tour. Now, he might still be a point of contention for the league. Taking to this, one of them even commented, “Some UK tabloids have reported that Tony Finau is headed to LIV and could be on Smash at the expense of Graham McDowell. I know Finau had a big offer to join Rahm’s team, which he eventually turned down.” While another said, “Finau and Hovland are my guesses.”.
