LIV Golf has been hit with a tragedy! The Saudi-funded league has revamped itself and made some changes to its format too. But now it seems that the much-awaited event is in jeopardy! The season opener of the rival league was going to kick off in Mexico on February 2, but now there might be a slight delay because of some health issues among players and caddies.

In a recent X post from Flushing It Golf, it was revealed that the event at Mayakoba is under threat of postponement. And the reason for that is food poisoning. According to the post, almost 20 players and bagmen were confirmed to be sick with food poisoning.

This mass food poisoning will, for sure, lead to a delay in the event. But there has yet to be any official confirmation about the delay from the rival league. LIV golf fans will be hoping that the people at the event get well soon. But the delay in the calendar opener event will leave a sour taste in the mouths of fans, as they were eagerly waiting for Jon Rahm’s sensational debut on the course after his defection.

Will there be a delay for sure at the much-awaited LIV Golf Mayakoba event?

Despite reports of food poisoning in almost half the field of LIV, there are no signs of delay, officially. Golf insider Bob Harig made a post on X, claiming, “LIV Golf is officially saying that there are no withdrawals at this time and no plans to delay or postpone the start of the tournament.”
