The hype in the golf world is slowly building up, with the LIV Golf Jeddah reaching its finale on Sunday. With the winner getting a cut of the $25 million prize pool, the field of golfers will be looking to outsmart each other during the regular season’s final event. And looking to finish the race strong are none other than Brooks Koepka and his brother.

The Smash GC skipper’s brother has been in a dicey situation over the past couple of events owing to his position on the leaderboard. However, even that did not stop the golfer from saying “no” to a peculiar request set forth regarding his brother—nothing short of an expensive ordeal!

The skipper of the Smash GC team would also be looking to propel his squad up the rankings as the defending champions. However, it might not come all too easy for the group as the fourth member, Chase Koepka, finds himself in the bottom rungs of the leaderboard for the season and also for the event in Jeddah.

In a press conference after the second round on Saturday, the 33-year-old was quizzed about a promise he made last year to his younger sibling about a Lamborghini and whether he made the same this year. However, the professional was quick to turn it down as he recalled the 2022 Jeddah event where Chase Koepka won team money, enabling him to buy a car.

Adding on to his response, the American Ryder Cup star said, “He’s on his own now,” all the while disclosing the current condition of his brother’s car. The professional mentioned how his sibling “blew his back right tire out,” leading him to get it fixed a couple of weeks ago. Currently, at the 48th position in the 2023 standings, the 29-year-old Koepka would be relegated through the ‘Drop Zone’ if his poor form continues and he is unable to finish in a better position.

The team, including the tailender, would be looking to defend its title owing to the win they procured last year. However, it does make one curious as to how the two brothers have fared in the Jeddah event so far!

The older Koepka golfer has managed to top the leaderboard after the second round with a score of 12-under 128. The professional managed to score a total of eight birdies in the first 14, pushing him past Sergio Garcia, who is hot on his tail.

But such a situation seems in direct contrast to the younger brother’s, as he finds himself tied at T44 with Graeme McDowell. The 29-year-old scored a 1-under 142, placing him very low in the standings and increasing the chances for him to be relegated in the 2024 season.
