The final vacant position on Jon Rahm‘s LIV Golf team is finally filled. And filling that spot is none other than his Ryder Cup teammate, Tyrrell Hatton! In a shocking turn of events, the Saudi-backed league successfully poached the English golfer for a reported £50 million (approximately $60 million) deal.

This number may seem low at first as compared to Jon Rahm’s $566 million deal. However, the purse Hatton has accumulated over the years makes this deal a no-brainer. Let’s look into the earnings the 32-year-old accumulated from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour before switching to LIV Golf.

The 2023 Ryder Cup winner has accumulated a total of $21,963,628 as his career earnings from the PGA Tour. So he is getting a deal worth more than double his earnings since he turned pro. According to the official PGA Tour website, Tyrrell Hatton has earned approximately $22 million of his total earnings from their events. The rest can be attributed to the unofficial tournaments he has taken part in.

Tyrrell Hatton to tee it up at the Mayakoba event

The English golfer’s move to LIV Golf is a shock to many. He was scheduled to tee off at the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend. But a phone call from Jon Rahm was enough to convince him to join his team. Rahm’s call helped him make up his mind, as reportedly, the Spaniard helped Hatton bag a better offer. They both were teammates on last year’s Ryder Cup champion team.

According to reports, the English golfer will tee off at LIV Golf Mayakoba in place of Pebble Beach. The Saudi-backed league convinced Hatton to defect to their league for a sum of approximately $60 million. However, it sounds like a good deal if we take his career earnings into perspective.
