Only a week ago, Jerry Foltz announced how Phil Mikelson had never been proven wrong about his plans for LIV Golf and the living legend has done it again. As Mickelson previously discussed, Greg Norman has shown the green light to the LIV Golf getting home courses for each team.

In a podcast by Bloomberg Television, Greg Norman talked about all the new changes to be incorporated in his controversial golf league. The CEO of LIV Golf, who touched the US Open’s trophy only days ago, is now looking to grow and educate his players. How? Well, he is taking inspiration from other sports organizations around the world.

Greg Norman opined that venues could be a stepping stone not just for the individual, but also for the team-specific improvement. He suggested, “Just another subject about how we can really grow that and grow our business from a league perspective is venues.”

The CEO then proceeded to comment on how several other sports organizations all over the globe use this technique to give their players a better opportunity to grow their skills. He pointed towards global sports organizations like Manchester United, NFL, and IPL, which have shown that having home bases to practice has its advantages for the players and the teams.

Norman then reflected, “Think about LIV. Owning all their own golf courses. Having each, each team. Having a home venue and they host. And now you can build out around that”. The Australian plans to move forward even further after each team owns their own course.

Earlier, Mickelson had stated his wish to have a home course as it would help the young golfers who were deprived of opportunities. He suggested, “The HyFlyers, as a team, what we want to do is create an opportunity for a lot of young players that don’t have access to that [World-class training facilities]. To succeed, like, when they say it takes a team like it really takes a lot of people to help you.”

Mickelson’s idea of progression has been to help and improve every member of a team. The idea of setting goals and targets customized for each player in their home courses will certainly give everyone an upper hand in honing their skills and thinking and practicing under pressure.

However, for Greg Norman, growing as a league and as a business is not always about the greens. Let’s hear from him what he envisions as an enhancement of golf.

Greg Norman’s checklist for growing the game of golf

Norman declared that the greens are certainly not the only element that advances golf. “It’s not just the golf course, how you grow the game of golf. You bring in education, you bring in hospitality, you bring in real estate. You bring in Merchandise,” the 69-year-old continued to expand his list from the course to an array of other supplementary that can boost any event.

“You bring in management, you bring in all these other different opportunities that the game of golf has to deliver to a community, to a region. You can see how it’s being left untouched for crazy reasons why I don’t get it right,” Norman further mentioned.
