When Greg Norman’s tour began drawing players, it was heavily criticized, especially by the PGA Tour. And to maintain that streak, LIV Golf started offering lucrative prizes. More than a year after finding their feet, the players have grown to be far more crucial to the circuit.

And of those players, Talor Gooch is the one who is currently ruling LIV Golf. Gooch became the first athlete on the Saudi-sponsored circuit to win three championships with his victory in Valderrama. He was also part of Team Aces last year, in which their team won the final team prize. Now that LIV Golf has its star, this is all because of a 13-year-old confused boy.

Choosing golf over baseball

After winning three titles in LIV Golf, Gooch shared the honest reasons behind his pursuit of golf. Days ahead of the LIV Golf Chicago event, he got invited to the LIV Golf YouTube talk show ‘Fourball’. There he talked about 50 Cent’s music and golf. He revealed his favorite conspiracy theories with the show’s host, Travis Miller, and co-host, British golfer Annabelle Angel.

When asked by the hosts what inspired him to play golf, Gooch presented a detailed justification for his choice. He claimed to be a huge baseball and golf fan. He used to play both in his youth. ”Baseball was big in our family. And I love baseball. As I was growing up, my two favorite sports were baseball and golf,”’ said Gooch.

But juggling both sports was hard for him since he didn’t like to lose. In baseball, the team would help him win. But since golf is mostly a solitary sport, all things will depend on him. ”I usually win in baseball; if I play good, it doesn’t matter, because I’ve got the rest of the team that I need to like to help me win. And so my 13-year-old self was like, You know what? Let’s put it all on us. So that there’s no one else to blame if you don’t win. So that’s truly the reason why I picked golf,” said the 31-year-old golfer.

Well, this could be the best decision 13-year-old Gooch made for today’s Talor Gooch. Not just because he is one of the stronger players in LIV Golf, but his win also helped him build a financial kingdom, as he reportedly earned $4 million for each of his wins.

With all the insight, Gooch also made a mild poke at 50 cents.

Not a good golfer in the eyes of Talor Gooch

Annabelle questioned Gooch about attending LIV Golf concerts. Angel proposed that LIV Golf take into account hiring 50 Cent as a performer since she thought it would give the game a distinctive edge.

Talor Gooch retorted enthusiastically and agreed with what Annabelle said. But moments later, Gooch said that 50 Cents is bad at golf. “He sucks at golf, by the way. Have you ever seen his swing?” asked the American golfer.

As a professional player, Gooch has a right to judge 50 Cent’s golfing skills. But all of his remarkable golfing career owns a big time to the 13-year-old, confused Gooch.
