Ian Poulter has not been having the best of years in 2023, with just a runner-up position at the Asian Tour: International Series England. However, the golfer found his pride back through his gem of a son, Luke Poulter, a freshman on the Florida Gators team. The young athlete has a win to his name at the 2022 Willows Cup in Alabama.

A post was uploaded to the Instagram handle of the media Golf Channel showcasing an interview with the 19-year-old. The video spots the redshirt freshman being asked if he has any advice for the youngsters who would love to be playing collegiate golf one day.

Responding to the query, the professional’s son said, “Work as hard as you can,” all the while mentioning how one wouldn’t be able to “get to many places” without it. Adding to his response, the young Poulter urged the aspirants to “never give up” while alluding to how many of the best players in the game reached where they are now by following the same.

However, a lot of enthusiasts in the community were not so receptive to the advice given by the LIV Golf star’s teenage son, so they went ahead to comment on their responses under the post.

Luke Poulter, the son of a clown father?

The young protege would not have thought about the video blowing up on the internet, invoking a frenzy of responses. It ranged from those of annoyance to the teenager and his father to just a few comments supporting the duo. Let us take a look at some of the reactions.

It is a fact that an aspiring golfer with the right kind of guidance would end up in a better place as opposed to those without it. And a follower did point out the same as he went ahead to comment, “I mean yeah it All comes down to hard work…. Lmao let’s just over look the fact he’s had the best coaching/ latest tec and equipment from the very jump. His dads played on the pga since he was born his advice isn’t applicable to jr golfers.”

There were a lot of responses against the father-son duo, as the 19-year-old was compared to his father. Moreover, their efforts were even made fun of as the 47-year-old was likened to a “clown” ““Work hard”? Inspiring stuff. The charisma of a paint can, just like his clown father.”

Here comes the next one. Well, an enthusiast did wish the best for the college golfer as he pointed out the many obstacles Luke Poulter had to face through his hard golfing career, albeit sarcastically: “We should all root for this kid to succeed. He has had to overcome so much in life. Here he is, a model of perseverance and determination, to succeed in this world despite having the douchiest and most insufferable human being on earth as his dad.”

A follower did not credit the success of the 3X PGA Tour winner’s son to him, as according to the fan, he was not a “self made” persona but someone who rose up with his father’s help; “I’ll root for the more “self made” guys a little more. Nice story, but he had every advantage right there for him.”

Well, a PGA Tour supporter did come out at last, as he mentioned the switch that the professional dad made when LIV Golf came into being in 2022. He went ahead to comment, “Have a dad who was on the tour lmao.”

However, there were a few who came out in support of the golfer and his son. They went forward to credit the duo for their hard work and perseverance that they had exhibited till now. There were comments, including, “Why the hate? Working hard and never giving are required for anyone’s success. Well aware of his father and privilege but he doesn’t seem to lean on ANY of it which means Ian and mom have taught him well.”

Moreover, another person went ahead to point out the haters and bash them as he said, “You trolls are pathetic… how do you think his dad got there? Of course he instilled the young man with the same mindset and the skills and experiences that he learned from.”
