Bryson DeChambeau was one of the biggest names who defected from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf, but his move came at a cost. Though the golfer left behind his PGA Tour accolades and wins, he was not lucky enough to secure a win in almost two seasons, just until last week in Greenbrier. Though his $125 million move to the backway league was criticized, and even more for the winless streak, he had another incredible and unique record to his name.
But as the golfer clenched his maiden historic win, just days later, he broke his unique streak. Records are definitely meant to be broken, and this year has stood true to that statement. Just a couple of months before DeChambeau’s broken streak, Tiger Woods‘ similar record was broken.

After suffering a hip injury last year in 2022, Mr. 58 is having a good 2023 season! Although his maiden victory came a bit late, he has shown some impressive performances this year. The Scientist finished in 4th place in the PGA Championship, and even in the LIV’s Valderrama event, he came close to a win.
The 2020 US Open winner added a rather unique feather to his hat in LIV’s London event when he surpassed Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed in a record of 15 consecutive rounds under par. DeChambeau in London got to the record of 17 under-par rounds, consecutively. After Greenbrier, his streak became as long as 20 rounds. But sadly, it has now indeed occurred in New Jersey.
According to Mike McAllister, the Editorial Director of LIV Golf, DeChambeau’s opening round of 2 over 73 at Trump National in Bedminster ended his LIV-record streak of 20 consecutive rounds under par. The leading champion in this distinctive record is now Cameron Tringale. The 35-year-old has had nine consecutive under-par opening rounds so far.

Well, Mr. 58 is not the only golfer whose unique milestone was slashed. Just almost two months ago, golf legend Tiger Woods’ similar achievement was also positioned in the backseat after a golf veteran shot a great round.

Tiger Woods is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable golfers to have ever played the sport. Till June 2023, Woods was the sole golfer who held the record of 52 consecutive rounds of par or better, but it was broken by Steve Stricker while he was competing in the American Family Insurance Championship.
During the tournament’s opening round, Stricker shot 7 under 65. With that he was able to put his name above golf’s greatest in this special yet unique feat. The five-time Masters winner’s streak ended in 2021 when he shot 23 during the second round at TPC Scottsdale.
