It wasn’t quite what Brooks Koepka expected, to be frank. His team started strong with a T4 finish at the season-long leaderboard but choked hard on Friday, as well as on Sunday. The result? A T13 finish after the Team Championship ended. And boy oh boy!! The 5-time major champ didn’t look happy at all.
A disappointed picture of the athlete was reshared by Flushing It while highlighting how the LIV Golf Pro shot an 8-over par 80 on the final day of play at the Maridoe Golf Club. As a result, Smash GC finished in last place, eight strokes behind RangeGoats GC, led by captain Bubba Watson. “He didn’t look happy on Friday and his game showed it today,” wrote the handle as it asked a curious query; “Will he be recruiting in the off-season?” Well, will he?

The Koepka-led team had, back on Friday, lost to Iron Heads GC. The latter had managed to rake in two points while Smash GC clinched a lone point, all thanks to the skipper beating Kevin Na in the singles.
The rest of the team, however, choked as the four of them found themselves in the 3rd Tier fighting for the ninth spot. But come Sunday, fate had other plans, and the fans surely weren’t too impressed with them!

Brooks Koepka and his team, Smash GC, face immense criticism from fans
Remember the question that the X handle asked? Well, many fans sure provided an answer to that query. But before we get to that, let us take a quick look at his score. The American pro dished out a total of five bogeys, and two double bogeys while carding just a single birdie. He subsequently became the lowest athlete on the scoreboard for the day as well. Quite unfortunate, in all honesty. But the fans weren’t too kind on the athlete either to make matters worse, for they commented; “He shot 80 and he’s looking to replace his teammates?” and “He recruited this season and it got worse, man isn’t a leader he’s a boss. I’d say the issue is with Brooks, not his team. Use a mirror Brooksy that’ll be a start.”

Is Brooks Koepka really the leader Smash GC needs, or is it time for a change?

The golfer joined the Saudi-backed league back in 2022 and received a significant amount of dollar bills as a signing bonus for the same. His contract, like many others on the circuit, was drafted for four years to finish by the end of 2025. A follower pointed it out as they responded, “Looks like the face of a guy who can’t wait for his contract to expire in 12 months.” Another, meanwhile, just imagined the golfer heading back to the Jay Monahan-led circuit; “Recruiting? What if he heads back to the PGA tour?”

Over the three seasons of the Middle Eastern circuit, only one golfer has managed to emerge victorious five times. That’s not all. He has also managed to clinch five major victories, including 3 PGA Championship wins and 2 U.S. Open triumphs. Quite a bit of a record he has there. So much so that a fan took a unique jab at the skipper for his defeat in Dallas, all the while backing him up at the same time; “He was probably sloshed in Dallas. Happens to the best of us.”
The team did, however, rake in a cut of $600,000 from the total prize purse owing to their 12-over-par figures. But that wouldn’t have satiated Brooks Koepka’s disappointment at all. For it might have only given a slight relief to the otherwise brutal defeat!
