There’s been a lot of talk about LIV Golf since its inception. And, with the recent move from the PGA Tour to the same by Jon Rahm, the chatter had only increased with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland expressing their opinions. However, this time around, it was none other than John Daly’s 1999 JCPenney Classic partner who shared her views on the same.

Rahm had earlier revealed how he defected to the Saudi-backed league, citing reasons for the growth of the sport. But the retired woman golfer was brutal in her opinions as she took to talk about the Spanish professional, even divulging how he could be “easily replaced” for his move!

The Spaniard had joined the Saudi-backed league for a reported amount of $566 million, a little while back. Laura Davies, who won the 1999 edition of the JCPenney Classic with Daly, did not mince her words as she harshly put forward her views on the LIV golfer and his move.

Responding to the same, she said, “It just goes to show that everyone has their price,” taking a slight poke at the 29-year-old. Adding on, the 60-year-old pointed out how there are other “good players” present who are “going to fill their boots,” while bringing in the example of Ludvig Aberg, a “superstar in the making.”

However, as she continued with her reply, the ex-pro was quick to highlight the money aspect of the alternate tour. “Don’t get me wrong,” said Davies, “If anyone offered me that kind of money, I’d be there,” as she expressed her understanding of the Spaniard’s defection. Nevertheless, the 20X LPGA Tour pro emphasized how the LIV golfers are “easily replaced,” albeit in a not-so-criticizing manner.

However, she did not just talk about the 2X major champ in her interview. The retired athlete also took to mention the likes of Cameron Smith during the same.

While talking about the likes of Rahm during her interview, Davies made sure to bring in the example of Cameron Smith. Moreover, she shared how the community does not know how the Australian “is doing with LIV and that he was the Open Champion before” in 2022, all the while trying to prove her point.

Continuing, the 4X major champ on the women’s circuit pointed out how “nobody really knows” how the Aussie “plays anymore,” before going ahead to take a slight jab at Rahm. Well, with the amount of hate that the PIF-funded league still receives, it’s not a far-fetched claim that Daly’s mixed event partner is making. Nevertheless, one can only hope that the situation finds a bit of a change going forward, especially since the deadline for the merger is fast approaching!
