LIV Golf has stood up to its motto. Golf, but louder! Its attempt to globalize the game has gone to the next level with the debut of the International series in India. The Asian Tour’s event will take place from January 30 to February 2 at the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram. The star of the event undoubtedly is going to be Bryson DeChambeau.
He has managed to revolutionize modern golf with his presence. Having won two Individual Championships in three seasons, and being the undisputed captain of the Crushers GC team, he surely is one of the greatest players. But the question is, who are the other top players, who will be putting up a fight in Gurgaon this weekend?
1. Joaquin Niemann

The latest confirmed player for the DLF-sponsored International Series India is Joaquin Niemann. The Chilean star, who leads Torque GC in the LIV Golf League, will compete in the event alongside Indian ace Anirban Lahiri and US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau. Niemann’s inclusion adds significant excitement, especially after his standout victory at the US$5 million PIF Saudi International, powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, earlier this month. The 24-year-old defeated American Caleb Surratt and Australian Cam Smith in a dramatic playoff at Riyadh Golf Club, showcasing his calm under pressure and strategic play.
Niemann, who has already secured a spot in LIV Golf history as one of its top performers, will look to carry that momentum into the Asian circuit. Fans are eagerly anticipating his performance at the International Series, particularly to see how his game adapts to the challenging and varied conditions of the region’s courses.
2. Harold Varner III
Harold Varner III has gained a global following for his exciting playstyle and charismatic personality. Known for his versatility, Varner has excelled since transitioning to LIV Golf, cementing himself as a fan favorite. In 2023, Varner clinched his first LIV Golf victory at the Washington, DC event, solidifying his place among the league’s elite players.
Varner’s participation in various international tournaments, including events on the Asian Tour, highlights his adaptability and commitment to engaging with a diverse group of golfers. His impressive career continues to inspire fans, with many eager to see what he achieves next in LIV Golf and beyond.
3. Anirban Lahiri
The proudest player to be playing at the LIV Golf International Series India will be Anirban Lahiri. He has been enjoying an illustrious career with eighteen professional wins since 2007. He also represented India twice at the Olympics and the World Cup of Golf. He was placed as the highest Indian Pro in a Golf Major. His best finish was a T5 at the 2015 PGA Championship and is also the only Indian golfer to be a part of the Presidents Cup in 2015 and 2017.
He made his LIV Golf debut in 2022 and is currently ranked 16 in the Individual standing, with 71.75 points. If he gets to win the trophy, the feat will be one of his greatest ones so far indeed! After all, winning in your own country has a different cheer to it.
4. Abraham Ancer
Abraham Ancer will be another name putting up a tough fight for Bryson DeChambeau. The Fireballs GC team member is currently ranked at 12, with a score of 88.89. He managed to take the spotlight at the 2024 LIV Golf Hong Kong, where he bagged his first win in the Breakaway league followed by a three-man playoff. “I was proud of how I managed my mental side there that Sunday because that round could have been brutal,” Ancer told Fairway To Heaven, LIV Golf’s official podcast.
“I knew that I played pretty much flawless golf the first two rounds so some bad shots were going to happen at some point.” Ancer’s debut at the Asian Tour’s International Series India is highly anticipated.
5. Carlos Ortiz
Carlos Ortiz found his place with LIV Golf in 2024, securing his first tour victory at the Golf Club of Houston in Texas, his adopted home state. The 33-year-old, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, made his mark in Texas, where he had moved to pursue his education at the University of North Texas. It was there that he met his future wife, Haley, and crossed paths with fellow golf enthusiast Sebastian Munoz, who is now his teammate at Torque GC in LIV Golf. His participation in the International Series might turn out to be another turning point in his career.
