Accolades and titles are an intrinsic part of golf, just like any other sport. While some records take no time to be remodeled, others have been fashioned in a way that requires more effort and precision. Falling into the latter category, the LIV star, Bryson DeChambeau, achieved one of the most remarkable feats in golf history.
Interestingly, this distinct achievement made him the second golfer to engineer it in men’s professional golf. Moreover, it was only the first time such a feat had been attained in the history of LIV Golf. Hence, given the significance of this accolade and its impact, it was only natural for DeChambeau to be effervescent about it. This feeling encouraged the golfer to open up about his emotions after striking the exceptional winning shot.

Unquestionably, Bryson DeChambeau appeared confident in his game before he opened his final round. So much so that when asked about his next step, the 29-year-old immediately responded that he wanted nothing less than a win. After many near-misses in previous events, the answer seemed to be an expected move. And that is exactly what ‘The Scientist’ executed: a perfect birdie on the 18th hole in the final cycle and an ideal first LIV Golf triumph in Greenbrier.
While the win in itself was phenomenal and overwhelming, there was another greater accomplishment that almost left the professional speechless. Indubitably, the first and second rounds provided DeChambeau with a good advantage. However, it was the 13 birdies carried out on Sunday that sealed the 2020 US Open winner’s name on the victor’s list.
Also, this surreal round witnessed ‘the Scientist’ appraising his skills and shooting the marvelous 58 in the rain-soaked weather. This score is the lowest ever in the history of men’s professional golf and has only been achieved twice. The first came when Jim Furyk did so at the 2016 Travelers Championship. And now DeChambeau has added his name to the list!
What made this unusual occurrence even more unusual is that it came despite a bogey being conceded by the golfer. Given the wow factor of the win, it was obvious that questions would surround the same during the post-victory press meet.

Hence, when the interviewer asked DeChambeau how he felt, his answer was honest: “Where do I even begin? I pretty much felt like I blacked out after I made that putt, so I don’t even know kind of what’s going on.” He further voiced how notable this win was for him given its timing and execution.
‘The Scientist’ expresses how special this laurel is for him
To achieve such a score is a dream come true for many golfers, including Bryson DeChambeau. Thus, the golfer honestly admitted that this accomplishment is beyond words. Moreover, he has been working really hard for a long time to fulfill this. He knew in his gut that something special was coming his way.
Elaborating on the same, DeChambeau revealed that the first round was the worst he played at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. And while the second round wasn’t bad, the third round was truly special for him. Referring to the final day, the Californian native expressed that he felt everything was clicking. He missed in the right places and putted beautifully where needed.

Looking back at his score of 58, DeChambeau honestly confessed that at one point he thought of making a 54. However, soon that thought was sidelined by the golfer as he aimed to keep the score under 60 first. And to the letter, the athlete enacted his thought process.
On one hand, the LIV golfer’s skills were on point at the Old White. On the other hand, DeChmbeau believed, given the weather, that luck also had a part to play in his being able to sink the 40-footer, just like he practices every day.
